CHAPTER DIRECTOR THOUGHTS
Well IT’S OFFICIAL, Lee & Sandy are now the River City Wings’ Chapter Directors (CD’s). Dean and Terry Lanning, the N.C. Asst. District Directors (East), presented us with our “Operations” Vest Patches at the January Social, and then presented Pat and M.C. with their “Former” CD patches. |

As the third CD’s for NC-E2, we find ourselves following in the capable footsteps of Frank Albert and Pat and M.C. Boyce. Our new responsibilities are a bit awesome (almost intimidating), but we are comfortable that with the continued assistance of our new staff members, and your participation in Chapter activities, the River City Wings will continue to grow, prosper, and most importantly – be gobs of fun. We have two recent rides to talk about. The first was our annual January ride to the Virginia Diner, and we had over a dozen participants. On Saturday, January 26, six of our members (Lee Fortier, Pat Boyce, Darlene Lawson, Frank & Shirley Chappell & Tom Brennan) participated in a Poker Run to benefit the family of Detective Shivers, a police officer who was recently killed in the line of duty. 300+ motorcycles went on a 25-mile, police-escorted ride, ending up at Bullies on Battlefield Blvd. It was 36 degrees when we started, and 39 degrees for the ride home. This ride really brought home the value of owning one of the new Synergy heated riding jackets that was demonstrated by Pappy (what a model!) and Jay Cuthrell at the social (and written up in the last issue of Wing World). Synergy heated riding apparel (jackets, gloves, pants) is available at Turner’s Honda. April 20 is the date for our 2008 Poker Run. Please mark your calendars now for this terrific event that raises needed funds to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s “Ride for Kids”. The Ride for Kids is being held on May 4 at Cary, NC, and we expect to have a large group of riders attend this outstanding (overnight) event. One of the primary fund raisers for the “kids” is a 4-day, 3-night vacation on the Outer Banks. The retail value of this raffle prize (donated by Sun Realty) is $1,350.00. |
