I’m Lee Fortier, and I am retired from both the Navy (22 yrs) and The Johns Hopkins University (21 yrs). My co-rider Sandy is a retired CPA (20 yrs), and has been a professional Pastry Chef for the last 4 years. Now, we are both finally “fully retired” (except for multiple volunteer activities). First motorcycle was a 1968 Moto Guzi (100cc) that I rode while stationed in Gaeta, Italy from 1970-1972. It was bright red with chrome fenders. From 1995-1999, I rode a Honda GL-1000 that I restored from the ground up. I Traded the GL-1000 for a 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale that we rode from 2000-2002. Next came a Harley Sportster 1200 for a year, but that was quickly sold when we discovered the River City Wings and bought a brand new, 2003 Black Honda GoldWing GL-1800 that we have so far ridden for 36,000+ miles. Lee & Sandy are former NC-E2 Chapter Educators, and N.C. Educators of the Year for 2006. Lee is a Master Tour Rider (Level-IV), and Sandy is a Level-III Rider and Co-Ride Captain. Lee is currently a GWRRA Certified Seminar and Leadership Instructor, and he is also a Certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Instructor.

Harriett & Malcolm Marquit I learned to ride in the mountains of New Hampshire, taught to ride by my brother Larry, and his second wife, who was a licensed instructor in Ohio, and taught the Ohio state police to ride. Living in NYC at the time I kept my bike in a parking garage, and used it to get bagels and Chinese food from Chinatown. That bike was eventually stolen on a Sunday, right in front of my apartment house. It was a 1977 1100 Suzuki GL fully dressed, a gem In 1985 Harriet and I bought a summerhouse in the Pocono Mountains of Pa, and kept our bike there. |
|
I was a member of the Pocono Riders Club, and a member, and still am, of the “Retreads”, an international organization; in fact it is my 27th year of membership. Each year at the Pa. Rally I lead tours around the Amish country, including a tour driving over 16 covered bridges in one day. In 2003 Harriet and I moved to Hertford, where we joined the GWRRA, a group of great riders as well a grand organization to be a part of. Thank you all for having us. Harriet and Malcolm |

Pat Boyce Never say I won't accept a challenge. It is my hope to furnish you with a "newsy" newsletter and a website that the Chapter can be proud of and visit frequently for information about member celebrations, chapter rides and events. MC & I have ridden cross country two times with friends and we plan to have many more adventures. Back to Top

I
am 60 years young, retired firefighter/emt and married

I am now working at the local Honda Dealership and have been there close to 35 years off and on as part time and a full time employee. Nice place to work and great people to work for. Have been riding motorcycles since I was 16. Started out on a Honda S 65, next S 90, then a CB 160, next CB 77 (305 Super Hawk), then a CB 350, 1969 CB 750K, CB 750K3, which I turned into a chopper, then I moved to the big bikes,GL1200I, GL1500, and now a GL 1800. Working at Turners Honda over the years has giving me the opportunity to ride all types of Hondas. I am a charter member of the River City Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Now serving as tech. advisor for the chapter. Back to Top |
